Despite our specialty being Portuguese wines (for obvious reasons), everyone knows that our passion for fine wine is not limited to the borders of Lusitânia. Our portfolio of wines from other countries has been meticulously curated to further reflect our commitment for wines of outstanding quality originating in boutique wineries.
We are honoured to announce the arrival of the renowned Chablis wines by Domaine Raoul Gautherin et fils at our shop for the very first time. This is an exciting opportunity for us to share these exquisite wines with you, and we invite you to explore the unique characteristics and rich heritage of this esteemed domaine.
ABOUT DOMAINE RAOUL GAUTHERIN ET FILS
A winery with a rich history in Burgundy winemaking. Established in 1950, the domaine cultivates vineyards that date back to 1585, blending centuries-old knowledge with modern innovations to produce some of the world's most acclaimed Chablis wines. Domaine Raoul Gautherin et Fils is a family estate, passed down through eight generations. Adrien Gautherin, the current head, has been working alongside his father for the past decade. Together, they manage a 16.5-hectare estate located on the best hillsides around Chablis, ensuring that each bottle reflects the unique clay-limestone terroir.
"A good Chablis is a wine you can drink all through dinner without your palate becoming tired and telling you it’s enough."
Father-and-son team Alain and Adrien Gautherin have since transformed the estate into its modern incarnation of top-tier production. They farm holdings in three grand cru climats and three premier crus, nurturing each with the site specificity required to achieve meticulously detailed, high-definition wines. Most of the Gautherin wine stays in France, so it´s an absolute privilege to secure these wines for the Latvian market.

The Vaudésirs Grand Cru vineyards, located in the prestigious Chablis region of Burgundy, are renowned for producing some of the finest white wines in the world. Nestled on the slopes of the Serein River, these vineyards benefit from optimal sun exposure and the unique Kimmeridgian limestone soils that define the Chablis terroir. This combination of factors imparts a distinctive minerality and complexity to the wines. Vaudésirs Grand Cru wines are celebrated for their remarkable depth and elegance, featuring aromas of lemon zest, toasted almond, and oyster shell. On the palate, they offer a powerful, structured experience with a refined, persistent finish. The meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques employed at Domaine Raoul Gautherin et Fils ensure that each bottle of Vaudésirs Grand Cru is a true reflection of its exceptional origins, providing an unforgettable tasting experience for wine enthusiasts.

In the words of Adrien: “ To me Chablis is a wine made in tank, with the lees. It’s a wine with minerality, some citrus notes and freshness. A good Chablis is a wine you can drink all through dinner without your palate becoming tired and telling you it’s enough. Already the first day my oenology teacher told us, if you don’t have good grapes you can’t make good wine. So he had us sent off to the viticulture teacher instead. This stayed with me and it has become my philosophy. When it comes to winemaking the family philosophy is to keep it simple. We don’t make wines which could be considered technological. We are not making the same wine every year.”
