Domaine Raoul Gautherin et fils Chablis 2023 - In the pure tradition of the appelation, this Chablis is vinified and aged in steel tanks on the lees. The minerality of the clay/limestone terroir is fully expressed, along a beautiful freshness and notes of green lemon in its youth. Fresh, clean, and bright. This wine delivers refreshing aromas and flavors of ripe apple, savory spices, a hint of chalk, and a touch of minerality. Pair it with a plate of raw oysters and a few squeezes of lemon.

Domaine Raoul Gautherin et fils Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2023 - Cuvée made from a selection of Raoul Gautherins oldest vineyards of Chablis, more than 35 years old. After vinification in stainless steel tank, the wine is aged in barrels during 12 to 15 months. Only 2nd or 3rd use barrels in order not to hide the typicality of the Chablis. Buttery aromas and candied fruits come blend with its minerality to create a beautifully balanced wine. Bright pale-gold in the glass, with a hint of platinum. A welcoming aromatic festival spills over the glass, with citrus blossom, chamomile, and Amalfi lemon. The palate offers an expressive and vibrant mineral wonderland driven by crushed limestone, accented with lemon-rind and honeysuckle and resolving in cleansing acidity and a long finish. Drink now – 2028.

Domaine Raoul Gautherin et fils Chablis Premiere Cru Vaillons 2022 - Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Raoul Gautherin, is a very characteristic and classic Chardonnay from the prestigious Chablis, which combines the elegant aromas of white flowers, with juicy fruit and the very special minerality of the region. The epitome of Chablis quality has just arrived at such a price that you no longer have to wonder which wine you will consume in the following period! Vaillons is located west of the River Serein in the village of Chablis, Burgundy, and is one of the largest Premier Cru vineyards in the greater Chablis region. Its most special feature, however, is the rare soil, called Kimmeridgian, which is a mixture of limestone and clay, which creates a very special terroir. This results in the production of wines of exemplary quality with the purity of fruit, crisp acidity, and particular elegance, which of course you can keep for years in your cellar, but are just as enjoyable even young! In the glass, it is moderately lemony. Strongly aromatic with fresh aromas of kumquat, lemon zest, and lime. Soft notes of white jasmine flowers, peach, orange blossom, and white pepper, combine very nicely with its very special minerality. In the mouth, it has a medium (+) body, with a nice crisp acidity. Neroli, quince, lemon zest, fresh apricot, and peach blossoms, in balance with aromas of brioche and butter. The minerality gives an extra complexity and creates a very special and enjoyable long-lasting aftertaste. For Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons, Raoul Gautherin the Chardonnay came from 6 different plots with an average age of 43 years, which fermented in stainless steel tanks. Then, the juice remained in contact with the lees for 15 whole months, without batonnage and the result is a very well-structured wine, with an intense character and a rich aromatic dimension.

Domaine Raoul Gautherin et fils Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesirs 2022 - Of the seven total climats in Chablis Grand Cru, Vaudésir stands apart with a characteristic fleshiness in the attack that grows long and lean on the saline finish. Not every vintage nor every producer finds its way through this essential tension. But we recognized it immediately: noble finesse and delicate power define this wine from start to finish. It opens with fresh lemon, green apple, and honeysuckle aromas that expand with the initial weight in the mouth. The supple texture is supremely inviting, evoking bright stone fruit and almond before drawing in gently toward a more classic, penetrating, austere core. The finale erupts like spindrift from a passing wave, salt air clinging to the soft palate. It’s a little hard to explain, but we found an overwhelming sense of hope in this wine, something pure and cleansing that reminded us why we do what we do. For Gautherin, Vaudésirs means a balance between opposing forces. They harvest two acres of 50-year-old vines, split between the vineyard’s unique southern (warm, ripe) and northern (steely, cool) exposures. After fermentation, one-third of the wine spends a year in oak, encouraging the grapes’ natural richness and elegant structure—similar to Dauvissat or Raveneau. The rest comes up in stainless steel, allowing for a quieter but more frank expression. The last act is to bring it all together into harmony, blending the various élevagesand aging the wine another ten months on its lees. The result defies mere chemistry. Some of that magic comes from the strength of the 2018 vintage. Warm without ever getting hot, the season played right into the Gautherins’ restrained style. And their effort has all the hallmarks of a breakout performance.
