Luis Pato is a nonconformist and a pioneer. In 1980 he produced his first wine and in 1988 he planted the Baga variety in free foot (non-grafted vines) to understand pre-phylloxeric wines. In 1995 he launched Quinta do Ribeirinho Pé Franco wine. One of the best known references in the region and a neighborhood icon.
Grapes : Bical
Appearance : Pale; copper; Fine and persistent bubble.
Nose : Medium intensity, honey, tea, light saline, toasted bread and wet stone.
Mouth : Dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity, delicate bubble, honey, tea, almond, creamy, wet stone and long finish.
Conclusion : This wine surprised me with the way it presented itself in the glass, if, on the one hand, the color shows a respectful age, on the other hand, the persistent bubble invited a long and attentive tasting.
I especially liked the clear aromas of the evolution that the prolonged aging gave to this sparkling wine. However, it was on the palate that this wine took me by surprise. I particularly liked the elegance and creaminess presented, however, I appreciated even more the high acidity, dryness and minerality that translated into a sensation of overwhelming tension that could lead us to think that we were in the presence of a sparkling wine from other latitudes.
This sparkling wine is a hymn to Bairrada and proof that national sparkling wines have everything they need to age well, for long periods, in the cellar.
